As part of its legislative business, the House of Representatives passed six strategic Bills at Third Reading to advance reforms in national cohesion, energy, regional development, education, and public sector governance.

The Bills include:

National Cohesion: A Bill to amend the National Orientation Agency Act to establish an operational framework for the Global Initiative for Harmony Corps, promoting inter-ethnic integration, mediation, peace-building, patriotism, and peaceful coexistence.

Energy: A Bill to amend the West African Gas Pipeline Project Act to introduce a licensing regime for shippers, extend tax incentives, and revise the applicable income tax framework.

Regional Development: A Bill to amend the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Act to provide for the inclusion of Anambra State as an oil-producing state under the Commission’s framework.

Education: A Bill to establish the Federal University, Wukari, with comprehensive provisions for its governance and administration.

Professional Development: A Bill to establish the Chartered Institute of Business Educators of Nigeria (CIBEN) to regulate and advance the study, training, and practice of business education.

Public Sector Governance: A Bill to institutionalise risk management functions across all governmental bodies in Nigeria.

Following their passage by the House, the bills will be transmitted to the Senate for concurrence and, thereafter, forwarded for Presidential assent in accordance with the legislative process.
