The House of Representatives held a productive but abridged session on Wednesday following news received during plenary of the passing of Senator Okechukwu Ezea, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly. In line with parliamentary tradition, the House suspended legislative business and adjourned plenary till next Tuesday in honour of the late Senator.

Before adjournment, the House adopted two Matters of Urgent Public Importance moved by Rt. Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, CON (APC, Edo), and Rep. Jesse Okey-Joe Onuakalusi (LP, Lagos) at the commencement of proceedings.

1. House to Investigate Alleged Unlawful Activities of NDLEA Officers in Okpuje, Edo State

The House resolved to investigate an operation carried out on 27 October 2025 in Okpuje, Owan West LGA, where NDLEA officers allegedly harassed and intimidated residents of Okeigho, destroyed property, and fired sporadic gunshots that led to the death of 16-year-old Emmanuel Monday George inside his family home.

2. House Mandates Committee to Liaise with Senate on Speedy Concurrence to Police Pension Scheme Bill*

The House called for accelerated concurrence by the Senate to the Police Pension Scheme Bill earlier transmitted on October 28, 2025. The Bill seeks to establish a Nigerian Police Pension Board through a Special Pension Scheme designed to ensure prompt payment of benefits and restore dignity, morale, and motivation within the Nigeria Police Force.

Both motions were referred to relevant House Committees for further legislative action.
