The House of Representatives on Wednesday recorded further legislative progress as two important bills were read the Third Time and passed, advancing reforms in Nigeria’s electoral framework and strengthening specialised healthcare infrastructure.

The House passed a Bill for an Act to Amend the Electoral Act 2026 to expressly prohibit dual party membership, prescribe penalties for violations, and provide for related matters, aimed at reinforcing discipline and clarity within Nigeria’s political party system.

Also passed was the Federal Oil and Gas Hospital, Beni Krukuru, Warri South-East Local Government Area, Delta State (Establishment) Bill, which seeks to establish a specialised medical facility to provide comprehensive healthcare services for workers in the oil and gas industry as well as host communities affected by oil and gas operations.

Both pieces of legislation were presented by the House Majority Leader following the successful consideration of the respective Committee Reports, after which they received the approval of the House for Third Reading at plenary.
