The ranks of the Majority Caucus in the 10th House of Representatives were strengthened on Tuesday with the defection of an opposition lawmaker, Rep. Amos Gwamna Magaji, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker’s decision was announced by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, during plenary, when he read a letter from Rep. Magaji notifying the House of his resignation from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to join the governing APC.
Rep. Magaji, a ranking lawmaker, represents Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency of Kaduna State in the 10th National Assembly. He was elected to the Green Chamber on the platform of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Upon his inauguration into the 10th Assembly, Rep. Magaji was appointed Chairman of the House Committee on Health Institutions. He recently received a new appointment as Chairman of the House Committee on Health Services.
Rep. Magaji’s defection makes him the second member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and the eighth member of the Minority Caucus since December 2024, to join the Majority APC in the 10th House of Representatives.
