On Tuesday, I had the honour of representing the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, at the Inaugural Distinguished Parliamentarian Lecture of the House Press Corps.

The theme, “Navigating Tax Reforms in Nigeria: Insights on President Tinubu’s Policies,” is timely as Nigeria pursues fiscal reforms that are fair, inclusive, and transformative.

It was a privilege to join leaders including Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, CFR, Speaker of the 8th House, who delivered the lecture with remarkable insight and perspective.

I commend the Press Corps for this laudable initiative, which deepens dialogue between policymakers, the media, and citizens in advancing transparency and accountability.

Together, we must build a Nigeria where taxation supports enterprise, ensures equity, protects the vulnerable, and funds our shared aspirations.
