Ikole-Ekiti | Wednesday, March 4, 2026 – The AỌA Constituency Office, the constituency outreach expression of Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr., is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Aare Afolabi Ogunlayi Ramadan Lecture, scheduled to hold by 10.00am on Saturday, March 14, 2026 (Ramadan 25, 1447 AH) at Oke Ayedun, Ajoni LCDA, Ekiti State.
Now in its third edition, this lecture series has become a distinguished platform for intellectual and spiritual reflection, bringing together scholars, religious leaders, and community members to explore the intersection of faith, morality, and civic responsibility. This year’s lecture is themed
“Taqwa as the Soul of Nation-Building: How Personal Integrity Shapes a United, Peaceful, and Prosperous Nation.”
The lecture will be delivered by *Dr. Musa Adebayo Idris,* Associate Professor of Mining Engineering in the Department of Mining Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). With over two decades of teaching and research experience in both Nigerian and Swedish academic institutions, Dr. Idris has distinguished himself as a scholar committed to academic excellence and ethical leadership.
Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Idris serves as the Chief Imam for the Muslim community at FUTA and holds the esteemed position of Imam at the Norrbotten Islamic Centre in Luleå, Sweden. He is married and blessed with children. His unique blend of scholarly insight and spiritual leadership provides a powerful lens for exploring the role of personal morality in national development.
According to the concept note made available to journalists, “When citizens internalize taqwa, a deep, constant consciousness of Allah (SWT), they cultivate personal integrity which, when multiplied across individuals and communities, becomes the bedrock of a cohesive, stable, and prosperous nation.”
The lecture will underscore how the character and integrity of every citizen collectively form the essential foundation for unity, social harmony, and sustainable national development. Importantly, these principles are not confined to the month of Ramadan but are meant to guide the conduct of citizens throughout the year.
This edition will feature rich discussions on practical applications of taqwa in governance, community leadership, and interpersonal relations, illustrating how ethical conduct at the individual level strengthens national institutions and fosters peace and prosperity.
Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr., speaking on the occasion, said: “We are committed to creating platforms for our constituents to engage with ideas, reflect on moral and civic values, and explore how personal integrity can contribute to the development and unity of our communities.”
The AỌA Constituency Office invites all constituents to attend this distinguished lecture, which continues to inspire reflection on the critical role of personal and civic morality in shaping a prosperous and cohesive Nigeria.
