With a heavy heart, I join the people of Ijelu-Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area, the All Progressives Congress (APC) family, and the entire Ekiti State in mourning the passing of Hon. Israel Akindele Ogungbuyi, a former Chairman of Oye Local Government Council, as he is laid to rest today.

I had the privilege of knowing the dear departed since the first term of H.E. Dr. Kayode Fayemi, CON, as Governor of Ekiti State (2010-2014). During that period, Hon. Ogungbuyi distinguished himself as a forthright leader and a committed progressive, fully dedicated to the cause of our party and the development of his people.

Hon. Ogungbuyi was not only a pillar of strength within Oye Local Government but also a pillar of support in my own political journey. He played a significant role in my campaigns and was always available to provide wise counsel and unwavering backing.

His passing, after bravely battling health challenges, is a deeply painful loss. We had all hoped and prayed for his recovery, given the resilience he had shown. However, God, in His infinite wisdom, has called him home.

His legacy as a man of integrity, courage, and unwavering dedication to the progressive cause will never be forgotten. His contributions to strengthening governance in Oye Local Government and beyond will be felt for years to come.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Progressives’ family, and everyone who was fortunate enough to know and work with him. May the Lord grant his soul eternal rest and comfort those he leaves behind.

_Ṣùn ré o_ , honourable leader. You will be greatly missed.
