The House of Representatives on Tuesday reconvened for plenary with a solemn valedictory sitting presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PhD, CFR, in honour of the late Rep. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, who represented Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State.
The abridged sitting was devoted to paying tribute to the life, service, and legacy of the late lawmaker, as Members reflected on his contributions to the Green Chamber and his commitment to the people he represented. In keeping with parliamentary tradition, the House adjourned plenary as a mark of respect for the departed Member.
In his tribute, the Deputy Speaker described the late Hon. Tongo as a dedicated parliamentarian whose service was marked by diligence, humility, and an unwavering commitment to representative democracy. The House also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to his family, constituents, and the Government and people of Gombe State.
