The House of Representatives, during plenary this week advanced a number of legislative proposals aimed at strengthening trade and investment, pension administration, food security, higher education, public health, justice administration, national defence, and emerging technologies.

The House advanced the following Bills to the Committee Stage following successful Second Reading debates:

1. General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering Technology, Kaduna (Establishment) Bill (HB. 2785)

2. Commission for the Implementation and Enforcement of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) Agreement Bill (HB. 2765)

3. Pension Reform Act, 2014 (Amendment) Bill (HB. 2726)

4. National Food Reserve Agency (Establishment) Bill (HB. 48)

5. Nutritionists Registration Council of Nigeria Bill (HB. 2659)

6. Federal Plea Bargain Registry Bill (HB. 2658)

7. National Agency for the Control of HIV and AIDS (Amendment) Bill (HB. 2523)

8. Air Power Centre of Excellence (Establishment) Bill (HB. 2357)

9. Legal Aid Act, 2011 (Amendment) Bill (HB. 2773)

10. Artificial Intelligence Management and Finance Institute (AIMFIN) Bill (HB. 2063)

Following their consideration, the Bills were referred to the relevant Committees of the House for further legislative scrutiny and action.
