The House of Representatives, in its legislative sittings this week, confirms the formal transition of three key Members from the Minority Caucus to the Majority Caucus.
Reps. Amos Daniel, Sagir Ibrahim Koki, and Abdulmumin Jibrin formally resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), respectively, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
With these latest movements, the total number of defections recorded in the 10th Assembly has reached 61. Significantly, sixty of these movements have reinforced the Majority Caucus (APC).
This political realignment is evident in the cumulative losses recorded by the Opposition Parties since the inception of the 10th Assembly:
* People’s Democratic Party (PDP): 39 seats lost
* Labour Party (LP): 13 seats lost
* New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP): 5 seats lost
* Young Progressives Party (YPP): 2 seats lost
* African Democratic Congress (ADC): 1 seat lost
* All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA): 1 seat lost
This development confirms the evolving political structure of the House as the legislature prioritises the nation’s legislative agenda.
