As we continue the review of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Committee commenced a two-day retreat today with the objective of reviewing the bills under consideration, engaging in meaningful discourse, and strategically planning to fulfill our constitutional mandate.

With over 200 amendment bills under review, the Committee will focus on streamlining these proposals across various thematic areas to facilitate analysis, while leveraging expert insights ahead of the nationwide public hearings across all six zones.

The Committee will also establish a situation room in partnership with the Policy and Legal Advocacy Center (PLAC) to collate and address concerns from Nigerians during this constitutional amendment process, thereby ensuring transparency and accountability.

I commend the members of this Committee for their steadfastness and commitment on this journey toward achieving a meaningful and people-centered Constitution for the progress of our nation.
