Over the weekend, I had the honour of inspecting various ongoing projects across Ekiti North 1, Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency. I was joined by the LCDA Chairman of Ifesowapo, Hon. Ajibola Muyiwa, and the Regent of Imojo, HRM Damola Deborah Olatunji, who participated in the site inspection at Imojo.

So far, throughout the constituency, we have successfully installed over 450 solar-powered streetlights, significantly enhancing security, supporting livelihoods, and promoting nightlife in our neighborhoods. One such strategic location is the First Bank building being renovated in Ikole Ekiti.

At the Oba Ogunsakin Memorial Campus (in development), a satellite campus of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) in Ayedun Ekiti, construction and remodeling are progressing well. This campus will not only expand educational access for our youth but also stimulate economic activities in the host communities, creating opportunities for growth and local businesses.

In Imojo Ekiti, we visited the Oba Olatunji Centre for Inclusive Learning (OOCIL) (in development), a pioneering project dedicated to providing specialized education for children with special needs, particularly those with autism and related conditions. Named in honour of the late Oba Olatunde Samuel Olatunji, the former Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, this centre will not only support learners directly but will also train educators in inclusive practices, blending world-class methods with our local values.

In Itapa-Ekiti, we inspected the Modupe Atanda Memorial Orphanage (in development), which will uphold the highest standards in ethical and sustainable care once completed. This orphanage is designed to provide a nurturing and stable environment for motherless babies, prioritizing each child’s development and well-being in line with global best practices.

In Ikole West, we reviewed progress at the Rehabilitation Home for the Critically Disabled (in development), a facility that will offer comprehensive therapy and rehabilitation services. This will include physical therapy and occupational therapy, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for our vulnerable citizens. The facility will also provide psychological support and social reintegration programs to empower residents and promote their independence.

We have also concluded the construction of a block of 6 classrooms situated in the Ikole campus of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti. The soon-to-be-commissioned facility is to be used by one of the faculties.

We remain committed to building Ekiti North 1 Federal Constituency into a more empathetic society that leaves no one behind.
