Ikole-Ekiti | August 19, 2026 — Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., Member of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti North I (Ikole/Oye) Federal Constituency, has congratulated the leadership of the Federation of Ikole Local Government Students Union and the Federation of Oye Local Government Students Union, National Headquarters, on the recent successful hosting of the NextGen Scholars Summit 2.0.
Rep. Rotimi also commended the planning team, partners, speakers, mentors, volunteers, and participants whose collective efforts contributed to the success of the second edition of the Summit.
The Summit brought together students, educators, professionals, and leaders in an engaging atmosphere of learning, mentorship, and empowerment. It featured presentations by seasoned guest speakers, a quiz competition, a Back-to-School initiative, awards, and other activities designed to broaden opportunities and inspire the next generation of scholars and leaders from Ikole and Oye.
Rep. Rotimi described the successful hosting of the second edition as a testament to the vision, dedication, and teamwork of the organisers, particularly their commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people to learn, connect, build capacity, and develop the skills and confidence required to make meaningful contributions to society.
Rep. Rotimi is particularly pleased to have supported the initiative once again, with a grant of ₦2 million for this second edition, an increase from the ₦1.5 million grant provided for the organisation of the maiden edition last year.
For Rep. Rotimi, this continued support reflects his firm belief that investing in young people is one of the most important investments that can be made in the future of our communities, Ekiti State, and Nigeria.
He noted that platforms such as the NextGen Scholars Summit complement broader efforts to improve educational outcomes by providing young people with access to knowledge, mentorship, networks, exposure, and opportunities beyond the classroom.
He particularly commended the organisers for sustaining the initiative beyond its maiden edition and building on the foundation established last year, noting that the growth of the Summit demonstrates what young people can accomplish when provided with encouragement, resources, and the opportunity to lead.
Rep. Rotimi encouraged the leadership of both student unions to sustain the momentum generated by the Summit and continue to strengthen NextGen as a platform for nurturing young scholars, professionals, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders across Ikole and Oye.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting credible youth-led initiatives that advance education, leadership, innovation, capacity building, and community development, particularly those that provide young people in the constituency with practical pathways to discover and fulfil their potential.
Rep. Rotimi once again congratulated the entire NextGen community on the successful hosting of the NextGen Scholars Summit 2.0 and wished the initiative continued growth, wider reach, and even greater impact in subsequent editions.
