The House of Representatives, during plenary on Wednesday, adopted one Matter of Urgent Public Importance and five motions addressing disaster response, defence industrialisation, mining governance, parliamentary reform, national security, and critical infrastructure.
The resolutions include:
Disaster Response: House seeks urgent relief and humanitarian intervention for communities affected by flooding in Akwa Ibom State.
Defence Manufacturing: House tasks the Federal Government with developing a strategic drone industrialisation policy to strengthen indigenous defence manufacturing and technological innovation.
Mining Governance: House orders a probe into the performance, funding, operations, and alleged compromise of the Mining Marshals.
Parliamentary Reform: House resolves to implement key recommendations from the National Assembly Open Week Parliamentary Breakfast Roundtable.
National Security: House tasks the Federal Government to provide an alternative access road into the Federal Capital Territory from the Keffi–Karu Axis to strengthen security and improve emergency response.
Infrastructure: House seeks the urgent reconstruction of the Mutum Biyu–Garba Chede Road in Taraba State to restore connectivity and support economic activities.
Following their adoption, the motions were referred to the relevant House Committees to engage the responsible government agencies, conduct oversight, monitor implementation of the House’s resolutions, and report back to the House where necessary.
