The House of Representatives, at its plenary on Tuesday, advanced three Bills to the Committee Stage following debate on their general principles, paving the way for further legislative scrutiny of reforms in aviation, healthcare, and security capacity development.
Collectively, the Bills are designed to strengthen aviation governance, expand access to specialist healthcare, and enhance the education and professional development of security personnel.
The Bills include:
Civil Aviation Reform: A Bill for an Act to Amend the Civil Aviation Act, No. 30, 2022 to provide for the Automated Remittance of Funds accruing to Aviation Agencies; revise the Revenue sharing Formula; reflect the Renaming of the Accident Investigation Bureau as the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau and for Related Matters
Healthcare Expansion: A Bill for an Act to Amend the Federal Medical Centres Act, 2022 to Establish Federal Medical Centre, Zuru, Kebbi State and for Related Matters
Security Capacity Building: A Bill for an Act to Establish the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps Academy, to Provide Education, Training, Research and Professional Development for Personnel of the NSCDC and Other Relevant Security Agencies and for Related Matters
Following debate, the Bills were referred to the relevant House Committees for detailed legislative scrutiny as the House continues to advance reforms across critical sectors.
