Territorial Status of Eba Island
The House is set to investigate the territorial status and boundary documentation relating to Eba Island following concerns over conflicting claims between Ogun and Ondo States. The motion highlights the potential economic and security implications of unresolved territorial disputes involving oil-bearing areas and the need for clarity to prevent inter-state tension and protect national assets.
Provision of Defibrillators in Public Buildings
Lawmakers called for the installation of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in federal institutions, schools, NYSC camps, religious centres, and other public buildings across Nigeria. The motion emphasises that the availability of AEDs, alongside trained responders, is critical to improving survival rates during cardiac emergencies.
National Housing Scheme for Retired Military Personnel and Widows of Fallen Officers
The House urged the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to establish a National Post-Service Housing Scheme to provide affordable housing for retired military personnel as well as widows and dependants of officers who lost their lives in active service.
Timely Issuance of Tax Clearance Certificates
The House will engage the Joint Tax Board and State Inland Revenue Services to address delays in issuing Tax Clearance Certificates to PAYE employees, urging that certificates be released within three months after the end of the preceding tax year to reduce administrative bottlenecks.
