The House of Representatives concluded Thursday’s plenary with decisive actions spanning fiscal governance, healthcare expansion, electoral reform, and institutional accountability.
The House adopted the Joint Committee Report on the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, approving ten key recommendations and formally advancing the 2026 Appropriation process.
In a related milestone, the House adopted a motion to receive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, members of the Federal Executive Council, and Distinguished Senators at a Joint Sitting of the National Assembly for the presentation of the 2026 Budget Proposal.
In furtherance of improved access to healthcare, the House passed six Federal Medical Centres Establishment Bills covering Jigawa, Ondo, Cross River, Zamfara, Borno, and Gombe States, reinforcing its commitment to equitable service delivery nationwide.
To strengthen legislative integrity, the House constituted an Ad Hoc Committee, chaired by Rep. Muktar Aliyu Betara, to investigate allegations surrounding revised gazetted copies of the Tax Reform Act in circulation.
The House also received and referred the 2025 Statutory Budget Proposal of the Niger Delta Development Commission to the appropriate Committee, while advancing electoral reform through the adoption of the Committee on Electoral Matters’ report on the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
Additionally, the House formally acknowledged changes in caucus composition following the defection of four Rivers State lawmakers from the Minority to the Majority Caucus, in line with constitutional provisions.
