Ikole-Ekiti | Thursday, December 11, 2025 – The AOA Constituency Office proudly acknowledges the remarkable achievement of the Federation of Ikole Local Government Students’ Union (FILOGSU) and the Federation of Oye Local Government Students’ Union (FOLGSU) in successfully hosting the maiden Next Gen Scholars Summit 2025. The summit, held simultaneously on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Egbeoba High School Hall, Ikole-Ekiti, and St. Augustine High School, Oye-Ekiti respectively, brought together a combined attendance of about 500 students, teachers, and youth stakeholders from across the two local governments.
The programme featured enriching activities including inspirational career talks, an inter-school debate competition on “Digital Learning vs. Traditional Learning,” a youth-led panel session, distribution of educational materials, and presentation of awards to outstanding participants. These engagements reflect the rising enthusiasm for academic excellence and leadership development among young people in the constituency.
Our office is particularly proud of the young leaders who drove this initiative. Increasingly, our youths are embracing a new ideology anchored on integrity, service, and impact. Their commitment gives us confidence that the next generation is prepared to lead with character, purpose, and competence.
When one of the unions initially approached our office for support, we encouraged them to collaborate with their counterparts in the other local government. We insisted on joint ownership and parallel events to promote healthy rivalry, peer-to-peer learning, and wider inclusion. We are pleased that this approach resulted in a more robust, innovative, and historic summit.
While the AOA Constituency Office served as a facilitator and sponsor, the young leaders themselves fully conceptualised and executed the programmes, demonstrating commendable initiative, organisational capacity, and a strong vision for youth empowerment and educational advancement. We remain committed to nurturing the abilities of our youth and student community to lead, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to society.
The success of the Next Gen Scholars Summit 2025 marks a new chapter in youth-led development within the Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency. We extend our appreciation to the teachers, principals, volunteers, and community leaders whose dedication ensured a smooth, impactful, and inspiring event.
Together, we will continue to raise a generation equipped to shape the future with excellence.
