The House of Representatives on Thursday held a focused plenary session that adopted three critical Matters of Urgent Public Importance relating to national security, education and public safety.
In line with the Presidential Security Emergency declaration, the House urged the Federal Government to fast-track all Nigeria Police Trust Fund procurement processes, including tenders, contracts and the acquisition of vehicles, surveillance tools and protective gear. It also called for priority deployment of these assets to high-risk and conflict-prone areas.
The House further demanded that the Federal Ministry of Education immediately rescind the recent curriculum review affecting the 2026 WASSCE. It noted that the removal of key subjects from the WAEC portal so close to the examination places students at a clear academic disadvantage.
The House also raised concern over the abandoned Abakaliki-Ikwo Oferekpe-Obubra Road, which has recorded more than twenty-five deaths and frequent robbery incidents. The Federal Ministry of Works was directed to ensure the urgent return of the contractor to site to restore safety along the route.
All adopted motions were referred to relvant Committees of the House for effective follow-up and oversight.
