The House of Representatives on Tuesday, convened a Special Plenary Session to review Nigeria’s security landscape and strengthen the legislative response to current and emerging threats.
Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PhD, CFR, highlighted that Nigeria’s laws are strong but weakened by institutional gaps, inadequate funding, and poor implementation.
He noted that insecurity is draining the economy and argued for reforms that strengthen policing, ensure transparency, and eliminate unstructured ransom practices.
