House Adopts Two Matters of Urgent Public Importance and Two Crucial Motions at Plenary
At Tuesday’s plenary, the House of Representatives recorded a highly productive legislative day, adopting four motions, including two Matters of Urgent Public Importance centred on national security, cultural governance, and community resilience.
The House, in a Matter of Urgent Public Importance, expressed deep concern over the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, who remain missing, as well as the tragic killing of an Army General by terrorists in the line of duty. Members conveyed profound sadness at these distressing incidents.
In its collective wisdom, the House deferred substantive debate on the motion to Thursday when it will hold a Special Session on Security in Nigeria. Members will present constituency-specific perspectives and propose strategic actions to strengthen national safety.
Other motions were also adopted and referred to the relevant House Committees for further legislative action.
