Abuja, FCT | Thursday, October 30, 2025 – The House of Representatives is pleased to announce the release of the Order Paper for today’s plenary sitting, in line with its enduring commitment to transparency, public participation, and accountability in legislative proceedings.
Today’s legislative agenda reflects the House’s continuous focus on national development, institutional strengthening, and responsive lawmaking.
Highlights of Today’s Order Paper:
Bills for First Reading
The House is scheduled to consider eleven new bills at First Reading, addressing critical sectors such as constitutional reform, public health, education, citizenship, and public safety. Key among them are the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Alteration) Bills sponsored by Rep. Ahmed Idris Wase, Rep. Obi Aguocha, Rep. Akarachi Etinosa Amadi, and Rep. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi; and the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Bill.
Bills for Second Reading
Among the bills scheduled for Second Reading are:
– The Electricity Act (Amendment) Bill for effective development and regulation of nuclear energy programmes in Nigeria.
– The Federal College of Health and Dental Technology, Ifedore (Establishment) Bill.
– The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Institute (Establishment) Bill.
– The National Eye Centres (Ochadamu and Jimeta) Establishment Bills.
Motions
The House will deliberate on motions addressing national economic and social concerns, including:
– The establishment of a Special Agricultural Processing and Export Zone in Kebbi State to enhance food security and economic diversification.
– The need to curb indiscriminate sale of public land and assets in Federal Housing Authority Estates, Guzape.
– The need to engage inmates in farming activities to improve prison nutrition and rehabilitation.
– The collapse of local rice farming and milling operations across the country.
– Investigation into non-remittance of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) proceeds by NNPC LNG Limited.
Presentation of Reports
Several reports will be presented for consideration, including:
– The Ad-hoc Committee Report on the Screening of Nominees for Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs.
– Reports from the Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions on the establishment of new agricultural and fisheries colleges across Borno, Oyo, Cross River, Ondo, Bayelsa, and Edo States.
– Reports from the Committee on Public Service Matters proposing administrative reforms within the Federal Civil Service, including provisions for widowhood leave and amendments to the National Assembly Service Act.
Reports for Consideration
Plenary will consider the report of the Ad-hoc Committee on the Screening of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs, as well as reports on the establishment of new tertiary health and educational institutions, including the Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, Zaria; and the Federal University of Biomedical Sciences, Oju, Benue State.
Committee Meetings
Various committees, including Rules and Business, Public Petitions, Health Institutions, and Ad-hoc Committees on Drug Trafficking and on Deductions of Taxes from Public Servants’ Earnings, will also hold scheduled meetings.
