Abuja, Nigeria | Tuesday, October 7, 2025 – The House of Representatives today inaugurated three new Members following their victories in recent bye-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The new Members are:

– Rep. Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion – Ovia Federal Constituency, Edo State

– Rep. Rabiu Mukhtar – Garki/Babura Federal Constituency, Jigawa State

– Rep. Fidelix Joseph Bagudu – Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State

During Tuesday’s plenary, the lawmakers took the Oath of Allegiance, and the Oath of Membership of the House of Representatives, administered by the Deputy Clerk of the House of Representatives (Legislative), Mrs. Kehinde Florence Amos.

The inauguration follows constitutional provisions to fill vacant seats. The Ovia Federal Constituency seat became vacant after former Member, Rep. Dennis Idahosa, resigned to assume office as Deputy Governor of Edo State. The Garki/Babura and Chikun/Kajuru seats became vacant following the passing of Rep. Isa Dogonyaro and Rep. Ekene Abubakar Adams, respectively, of blessed memory.

The vacancies were filled through bye-elections held on August 16, 2025, in which the new Members, all of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged victorious.

With this inauguration, the House of Representatives reaffirms its commitment to ensuring continuous representation for all Nigerians in Parliament, thereby strengthening democratic governance and inclusivity.

Signed:

Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., mnipr

Spokesman, House of Representatives
