On the joyous occasion of his 60th birthday, we join millions of Nigerians in celebrating the People’s Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, Speaker of the House of Representatives.

This Diamond Jubilee is not only a milestone in years but also a moment to reflect on a life of service, resilience, and devotion to democratic ideals. Speaker Abbas has brought a calm and steady hand to the leadership of the House, combining firmness with empathy and conviction with openness to dialogue.

His leadership has strengthened the reputation of the House of Representatives both at home and abroad. He has championed reforms that modernise legislative practice and enhance the dignity of Parliament as a co-equal arm of government. Through his commitment to inclusivity, dialogue, and accountability, the House has truly become a people’s House that is responsive, reform-driven, and anchored on the national interest.

Beyond legislation, Speaker Abbas has distinguished himself as a mentor. His humility and generosity of spirit have nurtured younger colleagues and inspired them to view public service not only as a responsibility but also as an honour and a sacred trust.

At 60, his life story continues to inspire. It is the story of resilience and vision, grounded in the values of unity, integrity, and service to humanity.
