The Opening Ceremony featured welcome remarks by the House Majority Leader, Rt. Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, CON, and goodwill messages from esteemed guests including Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba; Executive Secretary, National Assembly Library Trust Fund, Dr. Clement Nwankwo; Executive Director, Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC); Rt. Hon. Patricia Etteh, Speaker of the 6th House; Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Speaker of the 8th House; Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, CFR, Speaker of the 9th House; Senator Shehu Sani, CON; and Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, among others.

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, delivered his remarks ahead of the Keynote Address and official launch of the Legislative Scorecard by Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON. The ceremony was followed by a high-level session on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Security featuring the Vice President, H.E. Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, alongside distinguished panellists and Honourable Members.

This year’s theme, “Deepening Citizens’ Trust and Participation: Celebrating Our Journey as the People’s House,” underscores Parliament’s enduring commitment to transparency, inclusion, and democratic engagement. It also offers an opportunity to reflect on the institutional evolution of the House and renew our collective pledge to advance the aspirations of the Nigerian people.
