Abuja, FCT | Monday, June 30, 2025 – The House of Representatives extends its warmest congratulations to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, on his election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council during the 145th and 146th Council Sessions held in Brussels, Belgium.
The WCO Council, which consists of the Heads of 186 Customs administrations across the world, serves as the highest decision-making body of the Organisation. The position of Chairperson is a strategic one, entrusted with building consensus, harmonising diverse perspectives, and guiding the global Customs community.
This remarkable achievement is a source of national pride and highlights the international recognition of the transformative reforms and renewed professionalism within the Nigeria Customs Service under CG Adeniyi’s leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the legislature, the Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise, Rep.. Leke Abejide, commended the Comptroller-General’s exemplary leadership and expressed confidence in his ability to excel in this global role:
