Oye-Ekiti | Sunday, October 20, 2024 – The AkinOmOAkin Constituency Office is pleased to announce the handover of essential medical equipment to Oye General Hospital as part of our Healthcare Agenda to improve services and ensure no one is left behind.

The event which held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Hospital Premises, was attended by esteemed dignitaries, highlighting the significance of this life-saving initiative.

Dignitaries present included His Royal Majesty, Oba Oluwole Michael Ademolaju, Adugbole III, the Olóyè of Oye-Ekiti; Princess Adesola Bamisile, Chairperson of Oye Local Government Area (LGA); and Dr. Esther Akinsooto, Medical Director of Oye General Hospital.

Also in attendance were Hon. Olosunde Olarewaju, Vice Chairman of Oye LGA; Hon. Yomi Olorunyomi, Leader of the Legislative Arm, Oye LGA; Hon. Igboro Ayo, Supervisory Councillor for Works, Oye LGA; and Chief Bamidele, the Ogbolu of Oye Ekiti.

The ceremony was further graced by party chieftains and leaders, including Chief Samuel Ogunsakin, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oye LGA Chapter, alongside the APC Women Leader in Oye LGA and women leaders from various wards within the local government area.

In his remarks, the Olóyè of Oye-Ekiti, Oba Ademolaju, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the entire Oye Community, saying, “This handover marks a turning point for healthcare in our community. On behalf of the people of Oye-Ekiti, I thank the facilitator, Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr., for his tireless efforts. These life-saving resources will ensure our people receive the care they need.”

Dr. Esther Akinsooto, Medical Director of Oye General Hospital, also expressed heartfelt appreciation, stating, “These medical devices will enhance our ability to respond to emergencies and provide quality care. We are deeply grateful for this support.”

The community also highlighted the critical need for an ambulance to enhance emergency services and provide prompt medical assistance.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr. reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing healthcare, stating, “This initiative goes beyond the provision of equipment; it’s about saving lives and empowering our healthcare system to meet the needs of our most vulnerable populations. We remain steadfast in our mission to ensure that no one in our community is left behind, particularly in accessing critical healthcare services.”

The items handed over are as follows:

Diagnostic Equipment:

1. Table Top USS (1 Qty.): Portable ultrasound or diagnosing internal conditions and fetal health.

2. Mobile Patient Monitor (1 Qty.): Tracks vital signs, alerting caregivers to critical changes.

3. Otoscope (1 Qty.): Detects ear infections and blockages quickly.

4. Sphygmomanometer (3 Qty.): Monitors blood pressure to prevent strokes and heart attacks.

5. Stethoscope (3 Qty.): Detects life-threatening heart and lung issues early.

6. Pediatric Weighing Scale (1 Qty.): Measures weight and height, ensuring safe dosing for infants and calculating BMI.

7. Adult Weighing Scale (1 Qty.): Measures weight and height, ensuring accurate treatment and dosing for adults, including BMI calculation.

Respiratory & Life Support Equipment:

1. Nebulizer (3 Qty.): Provides relief during respiratory crises like asthma.

2. Oxygen Concentrator (1 Qty.): Delivers essential oxygen support for respiratory distress.

3. Suctioning Machine (1 Qty.): Clears airways, preventing life-threatening blockages.

4. Ambu Bag (1 Qty.): A manual lifesaver for emergency resuscitation.

Patient Care Equipment:

1. Hospital Beds (3 Qty.): Adjustable for patient comfort and recovery.

2. Bedside Table (3 Qty.): Keeps essential items within easy reach.

3. Bedside Cupboard (3 Qty.): Organises supplies, making life-saving tools readily accessible.

4. Procedure Trolley (2 Qty.): Ensures necessary instruments are on hand during critical procedures.

5. Examination Couch (2 Qty.): Facilitates thorough patient assessments for early intervention.

6. Wheelchair (2 Qty.): Provides mobility for patients, ensuring timely access to care.

Sterilisation and Surgical Instruments:

1. Autoclave Machine (1 Qty.): Sterilises instruments to ensure safe, infection-free surgeries.

2. Sterilizing Drum (1 Qty.): Maintains sterility of medical tools, protecting patients from infections.

3. Forceps (2 Qty.): Precision instruments for safe surgical procedures.
