Barrister Omotosho was not just a leader within our party but also a beacon of hope and strength for the people of Ekiti State. His unwavering dedication to the APC and his tireless efforts to advance the progress and prosperity of our state were truly inspiring.
He was prolific indeed, and led the party to unprecedented electoral victories in successive presidential, gubernatorial, national assembly, and state house of assembly elections in Ekiti state, including the successful outcome of my election to the 10th Assembly of the House of Representatives as a candidate of the APC.
During his tenure as Chairman, Barrister Omotosho exemplified the true essence of leadership – integrity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of our party. His leadership style was inclusive, and he always ensured that every member’s voice was heard and valued.
I had the privilege of attending Barrister Omotosho’s last Thanksgiving Service, even though he didn’t invite most elected officials, as he characteristically didn’t want to appear to be advancing pecuniary interests. I attended out of deep respect and admiration for him.
I have known our dear departed leader since 2010 when he served as a member of the cabinet during the first tenure of Dr. Kayode Fayemi as Governor of Ekiti State. He was one of the leaders I admired on account of his simplicity, humility, diligence, and integrity, and we went on to forge a great relationship as a mentor and political leader.
As we bid farewell to Barrister Omotosho, let us remember the legacy he leaves behind. Let us honor his memory by continuing the work he started and by upholding the values of democracy, justice, and equality that he stood for.
On behalf of the people of Ekiti North 1 (Ikole/Oye) and myself, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Barrister Omotosho’s family, friends, and the entire APC family. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
Sincerely,
Akintunde Rotimi, Jr.
Member, House of Representatives
