The AkinỌmỌAkin Constituency Office is pleased to announce that the Second edition of the Aare Afolabi Ogunlayi Ramadan Lecture will hold on Saturday, March 29, 2025, in Ayede-Ekiti. This year’s Lecture will feature as Keynote Speaker, Dr. Taofeeq Miqdad, a distinguished Islamic scholar, seasoned naval officer, prolific author, and highly sought-after marriage counsellor, delivering an intellectually stimulating address on the theme: “Build the Family to Build the Nation.”

Dr. Miqdad brings to this platform a wealth of scholarship and experience. He holds a PhD. in Islamic Studies from Lagos State University (LASU), alongside Master’s degrees in Islamic Studies from the University of Ilorin and in International Relations and Defence Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy. His military career, spanning over two decades, culminated in his service as Acting Director of the Naval Directorate of Islamic Affairs and Chief Imam of the Nigerian Navy (2014–2024).

He currently serves as Chief Imam of the Defence Headquarters Mosque in Abuja. As an author, his publications address critical intersections of faith, governance, and society, with notable works such as “Superstitious Belief and its Impact on Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Landscape,” and “Marital Discords among Muslim Naval Personnel.” His depth of insight and eloquence make him uniquely suited to address this year’s theme.

The annual lecture, now in its second year, was instituted by Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr., Spokesman of the House of Representatives, and Member representing Ekiti North 1 (Ikole/Oye) federal constituency. It is a platform put in place in honour of Aare Afolabi Ogunlayi, foremost islamic, political, and community leader, and is designed to be a platform for intellectual and moral engagement, aimed at strengthening the fabric of family and community life.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, the Chief Host, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdul-Mumini Adebayo Orisagbemi, the Attah of Ayede-Ekiti, remarked: “A nation is only as strong as its families. This lecture series is a vital contribution to community enlightenment, reinforcing values that promote social cohesion and national development, and I am elated to host the event in the great town of Ayede-Ekiti.”

Aare Afolabi Ogunlayi, the Patron of the Lecture Series, also emphasised its broader purpose: “Our objective is to bring our community together in reflection and dialogue, supporting constituents to build homes founded on love, discipline, and civic responsibility – for it is in building strong families that we build a resilient nation.”

The Aare Afolabi Ogunlayi Ramadan Lecture Series has become a flagship intellectual and moral engagement for the AkinỌmỌAkin Constituency Office, fostering unity, promoting ethical leadership, and encouraging civic consciousness.

The Muslim Ummah, traditional leaders, scholars, youth, and the general public are cordially invited to participate in this year’s lecture.
