On Sunday, I had the honour of attending the Thanksgiving Mass at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Isan-Ekiti, to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi.

During the homily, Bishop Felix Ajakaiye referenced a powerful quote from Edmund Burke’s Reflections on the Revolution in France (1790): “He that wrestles with us strengthens our nerves and sharpens our skill. Our antagonist is our helper.” These words perfectly capture the essence of resilience, and Dr. Kayode Fayemi is a living testament to this truth.

Through every challenge he has faced, he has consistently sharpened his resolve and skills, leaving a profound impact on those around him. His influence and impact is on a global scale, but I am confident that, by the grace of God, his best days are yet to come.

I am deeply grateful to God for the gift of this relationship – the gift that keeps on giving. As I carry out my legislative duties, one of my greatest motivations is to honor my dear father, leader, and mentor – Dr. Fayemi – by not letting him down. His belief in me and the platform he has given me to serve fuel my unwavering commitment to our shared vision.

By the way, what do you think about my outfit? 😊
