Dear leaders, brothers and sisters.
I am excited to share an important update with you. Later today, a public hearing will be held for a Bill for an Act to establish Gifted and Talented Centres in the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria and for related matters (HB. 931).
I am honored to be the lead sponsor of this transformative bill, which seeks to create specialized academies for exceptionally gifted and talented children. These schools are designed to identify and nurture children with extraordinary intellectual, artistic, and creative abilities, providing them with a learning environment tailored to their unique needs and potential.
Gifted and talented schools are globally recognized for fostering innovation and leadership by equipping highly capable students with advanced curricula, mentorship, and resources. These schools cultivate future leaders, scientists, artists, and innovators who can make significant contributions to society.
This initiative has garnered strong support from my colleagues in the Green Chamber, with ranking leaders such as Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Rt. Hon. Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Hon. Sada Soli, and others as co-sponsors.
The proposed academies, to be named the Centre for Gifted and Talented Children’s Academy, will be strategically located across the country:
– Southwest: Ayegbaju-Ekiti, Ekiti State
– Northcentral: Suleja, Niger State
– Northeast: Takum, Taraba State
– Northwest: Zaria, Kaduna State
– Southeast: Bende, Abia State
– South-South: Sobe, Edo State
I humbly count on your prayers and support as we work towards making this vision a reality. By God’s grace, this initiative will significantly benefit our constituency and the entire nation.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to progress.
*Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr.*
