On this International Day for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr. reaffirms his unwavering commitment to fostering inclusivity and ensuring no one is left behind in the journey toward sustainable development.
As a vocal advocate for PWDs, Rep. Rotimi has sponsored key legislative initiatives, including a Constitution Alteration Bill to Provide Six Special Seats for Special Interest Groups, 2024, and the Bill to Amend the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act. These efforts aim to amplify representation, protect rights, and foster a society that values the contributions of every individual in line with this year’s theme: “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive & Sustainable Future.”
Rep. Rotimi’s dedication is evident in his grassroots engagement, with PWD contact persons established across all 24 wards of Ekiti North Federal Constituency to enhance effective representation. Additionally, several empowerment initiatives have been implemented specifically for PWDs, who have benefitted from targeted initiatives promoting economic independence and social inclusion.
Speaking on his efforts, Rep. Rotimi said: “Disability is not inability. Our vision of leaving no one behind drives our commitment to empowering Persons with Disabilities, celebrating their abilities, and creating opportunities for their contributions to nation-building.”
The AOA Constituency Office remains steadfast in advancing the rights, well-being, and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities across the nation.
